Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has affected many communities in 21 states, and unfortunately, the infestation continues to spread. Ash trees were a popular replacement species following the peak losses from Dutch elm disease, which means ash trees currently represent between 10 and 40 percent of our local urban forest.

Fortunately there is hope. A group of university scientists and industry professionals called the Coalition for Urban Ash Tree Conservation created and endorsed the idea that conservation of trees is more economically and environmentally superior to tree removal.
